A Representative Composition

In an effort to embrace a broad range of viewpoints and address the needs of various constituencies, the composition of the ASR Committee was representative of various stakeholders of the OISD. It consisted of:

  • Patty Sawyer, PSE Committee Representative
  • Dennis Dahl, OEA Committee Representative
  • Catherin Laflin, OEA Committee Representative
  • Ann Ford McGrath, OEA Committee Representative
  • Carla Larmore, Waldron School Representative
  • Kathi Ciskowski, OASIS Representative
  • Susan Gudgell, Community Representative
  • Cassandra Whellams, Community Representative
  • Janet Brownell, Orcas School Board Director
  • Susan McCaull, Orcas School Board Director

The committee unanimously determined that it might be best to keep current administrators non-voting so as to preserve objectivity since potentially their jobs could be affected by any recommendation. Non-voting, informational members of the committee were:

  • Barbara Kline, Middle & High School Principal
  • Coleen O'Brien, Elementary School Principal
  • Barry Acker, Superintendet (subsequently retired)

In the end, it was found that voting was a non-issue, as the committee was able to reach all conclusions by consensus.
