HPV Immunization Clinic Offered at the School

Tika Zbornik’s senior project is to organize an immunization clinic at the school for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. The first clinic has already passed, but there will be another one on April 26, 1-3 pm in the school library. Tamara Joyner, Public Health Nurse, will be administering the vaccines; the fee is $15 and parents must sign a consent form.

HPV vaccines can protect both males and females against the most common types of HPV that result in disease and cancer. The Gardasil vaccine that will be given at the clinic is part of a three-shot series recommended for males and females 11 through 26 years old. Students who need any shot in the series can receive it at this clinic.

Parents who are interested in this vaccine for their children need to contact Tika at (360) 298 2419 or tikazbornik@gmail.com so she can provide the necessary forms. For students who received the vaccine at the first clinic, new signed consent forms and the $15 fee are needed for the second clinic. This is a great opportunity for students to receive this important vaccine.

All students who ride the bus will be dropped off at the bus pick-up and drop-off area in front of the High School/Middle School. Students will walk across campus and should wait at the double doors by the library for the opening of school. All unaccompanied students should wait at these supervised doors, while students with parents can also wait at the front doors of the school by the maple tree.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL

Middle School students will be divided into three classes to begin the day: Life Skills with Nancy Wrightsman, our counselor, or PE with Coach Dahl or Coach Elliott.   Middle school class assignments for the rest of the day will be posted on the doors of the middle school and teachers will help them understand their schedule.   There will be staff members around in the courtyard before school and after the first class to meet and help guide the students to the right places.

For the first day of school, middle school students should report to the old gym.  Whether students will be in PE or Life Skills or HS band or HS strings for the first class of the day, all middle school students will meet in the old gym on Wednesday, September 7th  at 8:30am.  All students should come to school with their basic school materials including a binder, pens, pencils and paper.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR HIGH SCHOOL

High School students will go to their B day classes on Wednesday, September 5th, the first day.  All three classes will meet on a half-day time schedule with school dismissed at noon.
-Students should come prepared to have classes on the first day.  That means bring binders, paper, pens, and pencils for class and PE clothes, if the student has PE on the first day.  If you have PE, be sure that you have a lock to secure your stuff.  New locks are available in the office for $6.

-All students are welcome to come to the high school before the first day of classes to find their way to their classrooms before the first day. It can be very helpful to know where your classes are before school begins.
