HPV Immunization Clinic Offered at the School
Tika Zbornikās senior project is to organize an immunization clinic at the school for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. The first clinic has already passed, but there will be another one on April 26, 1-3 pm in the school library. Tamara Joyner, Public Health Nurse, will be administering the vaccines; the fee is $15 and parents must sign a consent form.
HPV vaccines can protect both males and females against the most common types of HPV that result in disease and cancer. The Gardasil vaccine that will be given at the clinic is part of a three-shot series recommended for males and females 11 through 26 years old. Students who need any shot in the series can receive it at this clinic.
Parents who are interested in this vaccine for their children need to contact Tika at (360) 298 2419 or tikazbornik@gmail.com so she can provide the necessary forms. For students who received the vaccine at the first clinic, new signed consent forms and the $15 fee are needed for the second clinic. This is a great opportunity for students to receive this important vaccine.
