Human Resources

Welcome to OISD Human Resources

The Human Resources department is committed to operating in a manner that provides for supportive, respectful, and caring relationships with employees, students and the community. Whether you are an employee with a question or an applicant looking for a position with the district, we are here to provide the best service we can and a welcoming environment for everyone.

In addition to supporting current employees, the Human Resources department is committed to improving student learning by recruiting, hiring and onboarding a highly effective workforce whose goal is to ensure the academic and social success of all students.

OISD IS a great place to work

We have a team of exceptionally qualified staff who care deeply about our students and who are committed to providing a safe and engaging learning environment in which every student is valued, challenged and encouraged to be confident and have the opportunity to become independent life-long learners, passionate in pursuing their dreams and in bettering the lives of others.

We keep the best interest of our students at the forefront of our work. This has a tremendous impact on our students and helps guide each lesson plan, interaction and decision made in the district.

As a small school district we can offer our students programs and services not always found in public schools, including small class sizes, a strong parent - teacher dynamic and an overall joy of learning by both staff and students.

Located on Orcas Island, comprised of 57 square miles of exceptionally beautiful forests, lakes and meadows, our small community offers a remarkable variety of interests maintained by a diverse population of retirees, artisans and service workers.

The District’s long history of successful passage of levies and bonds speaks to the community’s strong support of education on the island. Many local service organizations contribute financial and personal support to our school activities.

Accessible only by air or ferry, the island offers its residents a wonderful place to raise their children with a slower, relaxing way of life where everyone knows your name.
